Chef Arthaud Caldairou-bellon from our weekly La Cuisine du Marché will be hosting his first cooking class at the LiLi Centre on Saturday, Mar. 18. Join this intimate, exclusive opportunity to learn French cooking from one of the best chefs we know!
UPDATE: Due to the Fasnacht holiday, this class has been moved from Feb. 25 to Mar. 18.
For this French cooking class, Arthaud will show you how to create a delicious multi-course menu using fresh product. You will receive the recipes and learn the history of the dishes, techniques, and how to choose products from the market. We will then work together to cook dishes that look and taste amazing. You will also learn plating techniques and how to present a beautiful plate. Afterwards, we will share in the feast together and celebrate what we've accomplished.
Date: Saturday, Mar. 18
Time: 9:00 to 14:30
Where: LiLi Centre, Alpenquai 40a, 6005 Luzern (directions)
Cost: 120 CHF per person (includes class, recipes, ingredients, and multi-course lunch)
This class is limited to 5-6 participants so that everyone will have equal time in the kitchen and with Arthaud. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate children at this time. Please come prepared with an open palate and big smile! We will provide ingredients and equipment.
Payment can be sent by bank transfer or is due in cash at the start of the event. Cancellations must be made 2 days in advance (latest by Mar. 16) so that Arthaud can purchase the correct amount of ingredients. If you must cancel in less than 48 hours, you will need to pay the full amount, or find someone else to take your place (we may have a waiting list).
About Arthaud Caldairou-bellon
Arthaud is a passionate cook who has been in the kitchen since he was a kid. After studying history and communication, he became head of communication at a fashion company in Paris. Not long after, he decided his heart was in the kitchen and set out on the path to become a chef.
He received his culinary education in Marseille, France and also held a long-term internship at Le Moulin de Vernegues, a Relais & Chateaux property in Provence. After working in several restaurants in France and as a private cook in New York City, Arthaud opened his own restaurant in Paris where he cooked traditional, seasonal "grandmother cuisine"—the kind of food that brings together people and warms the heart.
After 3.5 years, Arthaud yearned to explore different types of cuisines and decided to move to Thailand. There he learned traditional Thai cuisine and worked for a Thai-European resort as well as helped create the menu for another local restaurant. After 10 months in Thailand, Arthaud is now living and working in Switzerland as a private chef. He brings a unique worldly perspective to his cooking, which now has French, American, Thai, and Swiss influences.
