All Season Swimming

Originally set up as a winter swimming group in September 2018, we are now carrying on all year round (except during the summer school holiday) with slightly longer swims, when the water temperatures allow it. 

As you might have already heard, cold water swimming has numerous physical and mental health benefits. Immersing ourselves in the cold strengthens our immune system and improves our circulation while also reducing inflammation and lifting mood.

By joining our group, you will not only get to enjoy swimming together, but you will also be welcomed into a wonderful group of like-minded, adventurous and maybe slightly crazy people from all over the world. We speak German, Swiss German, English, Spanish, etc.

Gerda, who’s leading this group started winter swimming and cold training in 2017. She is a full-time yoga teacher, massage therapist and outdoor guide who loves meeting people from all over the world.

The group will meet every Tuesday at 12:00 at the LiLi Centre. If it is really cold, will start off with a quick warm up, followed by a refreshing swim in the lake. Afterwards, if it’s cold, we will head back to the Centre to warm up with a cup of tea. In summer we might stay at Ufschötti for a picnic lunch. At about 13:00 we all head our separate ways again.    

What to bring:

  • Comfortable and warm enough clothes

  • Swimwear (ideally, already worn underneath your clothes) + towel + underwear

  • Plastic bag to put the wet swimwear in after the swim

  • Optional: bathrobe (facilitates changing after the swim)

  • Flipflops to avoid sandy feet

  • A wetsuit is not required but if you have one, feel free to use it

  • Optional: picnic lunch
